EOTD: Gold Maroon

Today I had lunch with a very dear friend whom I haven't seen since my wedding day.  It was really nice catching up with her and she keeps up with StyleByCat so I wanted to do something a little different with my eye makeup.  Do you know that I've never tried wearing burgundy or maroon colored shadow?  I guess there's a first time for everything!  I've been seeing a lot of beauty bloggers pairing gold and maroon so I thought I'd give it a go.  Here is my take on the combo:


I didn't do a step-by-step tutorial because it was my first time trying this look and there was the possibility it would go very wrong.  Now that I'm sure I've achieved a somewhat passable version of what I had in mind, I can go ahead and do a tutorial. Maybe for tomorrow?

Anywho, these are the products that I used to get this look:


ELF's Studio Pigment Eyeshadow in Golden Goddess is now one of my all-time favorite shadows.  I wasn't a big fan of gold until I got my paws on this stuff.


I also used a shade of maroon and gunmetal from my Endless Eyes palette for outer corner shading.  Alternately, you can purchase the Beauty School Eyeshadow Pigment Collection to get the same look for only $2.25.


I used my new favorite liquid liner, LA Splash Glitter Eyeliner in Onyx and applied some glittery Daiso false eyelashes to complete the look.

    Aw, thank you Kirsten! I'm sure you know how much time goes into blogging. Even short posts take at least 30 minutes to prep before publishing! But I love it because, despite the work, it's fun and keeps me creative and engaged. Your words are very uplifting and encouraging and I'll definitely have that tutorial for your tomorrow! :D
