I went for a gilded eye with teal pop, a warm, pink flush, and an earthy red lip...all using ELF products! To start, I applied Studio Pigment Eyeshadow in Golden Goddess to my primed eyelid, blending and fading towards the brow bone:
It's really hard to get the product out because the holes in the sifter are way too small, so I simply removed it and threw it away. I tend not to use loose shadows that often because I find them to be messy, but in this case I'll make an exception because the color is so darn pretty and glides on extremely pigmented and opaque, like paint!
|One of my favorite blending tools is...my finger! Lol.|
You can get these fabulous pigments for just $3 individually or in a set of three for $2.25. (I didn't see this until yesterday and I'm totally mad now!)
Anyways, moving on. For my next step, I'm going to take my Essential Shimmer Eyeliner in Twinkle Teal and heavily line by top and bottom lash lines:
Then, I'm going to layer my Studio Pigment Eyeshadow in Tropical Teal over my eyeliner:
To accentuate my eyes, I draw a thin, winged line along my top lash line and line my bottom lash line as well with black cream eyeliner. I normally love a nice, thick wing, but in this case, I don't want my eyeliner to compete with my eyeshadow:
I feel like my liner needs a little more oomph, otherwise it'll be lost against the bright and shimmery gold and teal. This is a perfect time to test out my new LA Splash Glitter Liquid Eyeliner in Onyx:
You can tell from just looking at the bottle that it's packed with multi-colored sparkles!
I tested a swatch on the inside of my wrist to see how it looks on skin. For some reason, the glitter shows up better in blurry photos.
I apply one layer of Onyx over my already-drawn eyeliner and apply mascara to complete the look:
The effect is very subtle, however it's much more apparent in person than in photos.
Next, on to lips! I got a chance to swatch the three Mineral Lipsticks that came with the haul that I showed off yesterday. First up is Natural Nymph:
Unfortunately, this color is just not for me. First of all, it's too sheer for my taste. Second, my undertones are too yellow and my complexion is too tan to pull it off. My sister laughed so hard when she saw me in it and told me I could save it for zombie makeup since I looked rather dead. Who knows, it might work for someone else. If anyone's interested, I'll give it away for free. It's only been swatched once and I'll sanitize it before shipping. Just give me $3 for the cost of shipping and it's yours.
Next up, Runway Pink:
I really like this color a lot. It's a semi-opaque, soft, romantic shade of rose that is complimentary to most skin tones and is extremely wearable.
Lastly, I tried Royal Red:
Royal Red is a warm, earthy red with a slight copper cast. I was surprised at how good it looked on me because I was a little wary of the way it looked in the tube, not red at all. I liked how well it looked with my warm complexion that I decided to wear it for the day! My affection for Royal Red was further reinforced by the fact that I got compliments from 2 complete strangers today while running errands this morning. I guess this one's a keeper!
All three Mineral Lipsticks glide on smoothly and are very moisturizing in texture, not at all dry or rubbery.
