Neutral Eyes; Loud Mouth

In addition to my little comparison and review regarding tinted moisturizer vs. bb cream, I also thought I'd share my LOTD (look of the day) which was done at the same time.  It's something I've been sporting lately: neutral, subdued eyes with a bold lip.

Here I have dramatic, winged eyeliner accented with falsies and some subtle, faux-crease shading.  I say faux-crease because, having shallow-set Asian eyes, I don't have a deep crease and therefore have to fake it! :D

I paired this with a fun, bright lip.  Here I'm using one of my favorite lip colors of all time, MAC's Girl About Town.  It's such a gorgeous hot fuchsia pink!  I used to be so afraid to wear it out, but once you get the hang of how to do it and just do it often, it feels very empowering!  I get tons of compliments every time. :D  Don't feel like paying $14.50 for it?  Well, Wet N Wild has a passable alternative in their Silk Finish Lipstick, 511B Nouveau Pink for $0.99.

Hope some of you give this look a try!  It's fun, without being over-the-top, in my opinion.  Stay tuned for an upcoming style post!

Hugs,
Cat

  1. I love girl about town, it looks a lot more warm toned on your skin tone. Nice look, and you're lucky with that photographer of yours :)

  2. Thanks Pearl! Oops, forgot to credit my camera man! But I think we all know at this point that it's the hubby. :)

  3. these photos are lovely! quite honestly, i think you have a great face for make up whether it's simple or bold. when i try more dramatic looks, i think it looks too harsh on my face, which is why i tend to tone it down. but you pull it off perfectly!

    1. Aw, thanks! You're such a dear. :D But really, all I used to wear was browns and neutrals. I had to ease myself into the bold looks. I think I had Girl About Town for a few months before I actually started wearing it, lol. It comes down to attitude. Once I realized I could own the look, I wasn't afraid to rock it and others pick up on the confident way I carry myself, making me feel awesome instead of awkward. I'd love to see you in bold eyes or a bold lippie! Hope you give it another go sometime soon! xoxo

  4. Do you have mono-lids? If so, your eyeliner looks great! This is the first I've actually liked winged eyeliner on mono-lids. I don't know if you do have those lids, but it seems like it. You actually put on eyeliner correctly imo! You're really pretty, btw! I'm still working on my winged eyeliner and I don't even have mono-lids :/ I have two different kinds of eyes so they don't match. Sucks, huh?

    1. Hi Christy! Thanks for the compliments, so nice of you to say! :) I think the term for my eyelid type is "hooded eyelids". I don't have mono-lids, but I don't quite have a double-eyelid either...somewhere in between, lol! I guess I'm just used to working with what I have. I've been practicing every day since I was 15 years old! Keep working on it, and I'm sure you'll make your eyes match beautifully, even if they're both different!
