New Glasses!

Ok, so from yesterday's post, everyone has learned that I recently got an eye exam and a new prescription for glasses and contact lenses.  You all saw my contact lenses, so today, I wanted to introduce you to my new glasses!  Check me out:

Is it obvious that I'm totally in love with them?  Call them "hipster" or whatever, but I think they're just too cute!  And, unlike the wannabe wayfarers I featured in a previous post, they're actually functional since the lenses have a prescription in them, albeit small. (-0.25DS in both eyes, lol)

I got these babies from www.Coastal.com.  UH-MA-ZING is all I can say!  Ok, that's not ALL I can say.  I know what you're thinking: "Buying prescription glasses online?  Are you insane?!".  Eh, maybe a little.  I was skeptical at first too, but Coastal is running a number of incredible promotions right now for new customers and for back-to-school so I thought I'd take a leap and give them a try.  I'm soooooooooooooo glad that I did!

First off, the glasses are gorgeous!  The style and fit is amazing!  I have a hard time finding plastic frames that fit the bridge of my nose correctly and this is one of the few that works!  I also upgraded my lenses to include anti-reflective coating, UV protection, and anti-scratch coating and everything, including shipping and handling, cost me a fraction of a fraction of what I would pay at my local optometry office.  I would know, I'm employed by an optometry office as an optometric assistant! :D

On top of that, service and shipping is conducted at lightning speeds!  I ordered these on a Monday night and received them Friday afternoon of the same week...what is that, like, 3 business days?  Even the wonderful office that I work at requires 7-10 working days to complete orders.  It really boggles the mind how Coastal does it!

Ooh...the blue box!

Oh, and as if gorgeous glasses delivered to my door at the speed of light wasn't enough, I also received a complimentary hard case as well as a cleaning and tightening kit with my order!

In case you're wondering, this style is Derek Cardigan 7017 in Black.

How can this possibly get better?  I'll tell you how!  You have 366 days to decide whether or not you want to keep them.  If you'd like a refund or exchange, simply send them back to Coastal...they'll pay for return shipping!

Seriously folks.  I have examined this from every angle possible and I cannot see how anyone can lose!  I also can't see why I would go anywhere else for glasses from now on!  For those of you in need of vision correction, get thee to Coastal pronto!  Just be sure you have a valid eyeglass prescription on hand as well as your P.D.  Not sure what that is?  It's the distance measured between your pupils which is required to center your prescription.  Your optometry office should take this measurement during your exam and would be able to provide it for you.

Hope some of you found this post useful as well as (somewhat) entertaining!  Happy Monday to all!

Hugs,
Cat

Airborne Unicorn

I know that some of you were looking forward to seeing a full-face photo of Airborne Unicorn.  I think I was finally able to get my camera to behave so that it would capture the color relatively accurately.  I really wanted to do a proper shoot with a nicer camera, but I'm hopping a flight to Washington DC tomorrow to visit family for the holidays, so I won't have a chance to do that until after I return.  In the meantime, I hope these will do:

Just playing around with my wannabe Wayfarers and different hairstyles. :D

With a cross-process filter.

With a lomographic filter.
I was super-bored during a long break in class, so I started messing with some filter apps. Hehe.  Welps, happy Tuesday y'all and have a great night!

Hugs,
Cat

p.s. Oh yeah, I forgot to talk about the lipstick, lol.  The color is a bright, pink-purple bordering on neon. I noticed that after it had worn off a little from eating, drinking, talking, etc, it left a really beautiful stain that I put clear gloss over, making for a pretty smile all day long! :D

Red Velvet and Wannabe Wayfarers

Ok, so we get to do a 2-in-1 today which I'm very excited about, yay!  Mega Last Lipstick in Red Velvet 910D by Wet N Wild from CVS and knockoff Ray-Ban Wayfarers from Sunglass Warehouse.  Check out the hottie geek-chic look I created with these:

Top from YesStyle

I never wear red lipstick.  NEVER.  The reason why I never wear it is because I never thought it would look good on me.  I mean, I've tried before in the past, but I could never find the right red for my skin tone.  Who knew that I would find it in a $2.99 lipstick at my local drugstore?

Wet N Wild's Mega Last Matte Lipstick in Red Velvet 910D is the most gorgeous shade of red-red.  It is bright, brilliant, and bold.  The color is extremely rich and pigmented and has a beautifully velvet matte finish.

Upon application, I was a teensy-bit disappointed with the thick, mildly dry, rubber-ish texture.  But I had to forgive because the color payoff was so worth it.  I didn't need primer, liner, or gloss.  I smoothed it on straight from the tube and did some mild shape-refining with a lip brush.  Voila, instant old-Hollywood glam!

As for the glasses, my sister and I have been so obsessed with the retro, geek-chic look that all the popular girls have been rockin'.  Problem is, the real deal, Ray-Ban Wayfarers, cost upwards of $100.  That's all well and good if you can afford it.  Unfortunately, I can't.  The good news is, we DID find a way to get the look for less.  Sunglass Warehouse sells a passable replica for $12.95 a pair.  We liked it so much we bought 3 pairs and split the cost.  The caveat?  Since they're basically a clear, plano pair of lenses, you either need 20/20 vision or contact lenses to sport the look.  Otherwise, they're a super-cute, inexpensive accessory that will add charm to any ensemble.

Red, blue, and black.  Images processed via Instagram for iPhone.

That's it for now!  I had so much fun with this post, hope you all had fun reading it as well.  Happy Mon...err, I guess it's Tuesday at this hour.  lol :D

Hugs,
Cat

p.s. Don't forget, we only have one week left before the drawing for my latest giveaway.
