My Glass Slipper

Marilyn Monroe once said:

Give a girl the right SHOES, and she can conquer the world.

Literally speaking, this may sound a  little silly. However, I believe the fabulous Ms. Monroe was alluding to attitude and state of mind. The right shoes, or in my case (being terribly petite and all), the right stilettos, can give me a boost of confidence.

Therefore you can imagine how thrilled I was when I found these under the Christmas tree this year, graciously gifted by my dear mister:

Ah, the quintessential nude pump! And by monsieur Louboutin, no less. I figured if I was going to covet an all-occasion shoe, one that would be worn often, why not a pair with glamorous, red soles? Also, since the design and coloring are elegant, but low-key, I thought that opting for a patent finish for high-gloss shine would make them a little more outstanding.

This model is the Simple 100, and are reasonably comfortable for the brand. So far, I've only worn them with skinny jeans and leggings, but I imagine they'd look quite pretty paired with a skater skirt or dress. I also own a gorgeous, lacy pair which were purchased when I had walked down the aisle. But those are as "un-walkable" as they're lovely. I'll be wearing that particular pair for "sitting-only" occasions, lol.

Well, off to conquer the world!

JustFab Rose

About a month ago, I ordered a gorgeous, towering high-heeled pump from JustFabulous called Rose.  As lovely as this shoe is, I just couldn't figure out what to wear with it.  So I finally got the chance to wear them to an informal dinner party last night and found that they look really great with a simple, flowy, knit tunic and skinny jeans.  I think the key to pulling them off is to pair them with a simple outfit as not to compete with the design since they make so much of a statement on their own.

They're relatively comfortable for the heel height and I LOVE how they make me a full 6" taller!  They're like mini-stilts, lol.  I wonder if I could get away with looking average-height if I wear them with a floor-length dress...

Hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday...er...actually, looks like it's Monday now.  In any case, it's off to bed for me!

OPI Skinny Dip'n in Lake Michigan

Hey, sorry friends!  I had a really long day so I'm afraid we'll have to settle for a mini post today!  Just wanted to share one of my favorite nail colors, OPI Skinny Dip'n in Lake Michigan.  Cute, right?

I soooooo love OPI nail polishes, but they're expensive so I have, like, 2.  Their color selection is incredible, the formulas are always super-smooth, and no brush I've encountered so far has applied polish as evenly as OPI's.

Anywho, Skinny Dip'n is a gorgeous shade of warm, peachy-pink nude with ultra-fine subtle sparkle particles.  It's probably the classiest nail color that I own.  I can never go wrong with this shade.  I wear it with everything, from tees and jeans to full-on evening gowns.  Definitely one of my all-time favorites.  Unfortunately, I have less than half a bottle left and it's been discontinued. :(  I think it's still available on Ebay, but I'm currently on a mission to find a suitable dupe.  Wish me luck!

A Bow-rific Afternoon

Yesterday was one of the rare weekdays that my husband and I had the day off together.  We decided to celebrate by having a romantic, waterfront dinner at one of San Francisco's most famous oyster bars, The Hog Island Oyster Company.

Since the weather was sunny and warm (for a change) it was the perfect opportunity to show off my Bow of Beauty wide-brimmed hat from Ruche that I've been dying to wear!  I felt so chic on the promenade with my charming chapeau. :D

Daisy the doggie wants to be a part of the shoot too! LOL!

Nothing beats a great pair of pumps.  These nude velveteen hidden-platform pumps are by a cheap-o company called Qupid.  They cost about $30, but look like a million bucks.  Nude pumps are a must-have for any girl's wardrobe and not only are these pretty, but they're also comfy for the heel height!
