Divergent Makeup Series: Dauntless

Hello, everyone! Bringing you the second, Divergent-inspired makeup look: Dauntless. This was probably my favorite faction. (gawd, I'm such a bandwagoneer, lol) They were cool, and tough, and brave. It was always my dream as a kid to be a badass. Of course, that never really happened since I grew up to be very petite and ultra-feminine. But hey, I might surprise you with some of my Muay Thai moves, so watch out! lol

For the Dauntless look, I thought I'd do sharp, more avante-garde eyeliner in order to represent the fearless philosophy of the faction. In retrospect, I realize that 1.) I'm in dire need of a brow wax 2.) I should have made my brows more austere by making them as black and defined as the eyeliner. Oh well. No one is paying me to do this and it wouldn't be fun anymore if I had to do-over since I spent so much time on it. Maybe one day. XD

Products/Instructions:

  1. apply Urban Decay's Naked eyeshadow to the entire lid as a nude base
  2. sketch out the shape of your graphic liner with a black eyeliner pencil (I used UD's Zero)
  3. fill in the eyeliner shape using black get eyeliner (mine is by MBA Cosmetics)
  4. do a general cleanup of the lines using black liquid eyeliner (I used ELF)
  5. using my Kate Super Sharp pen eyeliner, I further refined the wing tips
  6. again, using my eyeliner pen, I added graphic dots to create a more avante-garde look
Finish by curling lashes, applying mascara, and applying Ardell Edgy strip lashes in #403

Hope everyone is enjoying my Divergent Makeup Series! I know I am! Happy Tuesday, everyone and thanks for reading! <3

Rose Gold Smokey Eye Video Tutorial

Good evening! Actually, it's pretty darn late. BUT, I wanted to do a last minute post before I hit the hay. Remember this rose gold, smokey eye look I did several days ago?

Well, I received so much good feedback and so many requests for a tutorial that I decided to film one. Check it out:

So, the lighting is a tad darker than I would have liked, but it was really dreary and overcast when I filmed it and I use natural light for my videos. With my *extremely* limited technical knowledge of filmmaking, that was the best I could do.

The technique is completely intact, however, which is the important part. Hope you guys find it helpful in recreating the look!

Cat

Tutorial: Teal Ombre Cat Eye

Due to the overwhelming response I received regarding the Teal Ombre Cat Eye EOTD that I did several days ago, I decided to create a video tutorial which illustrates the technique that I used to achieve the look.

This type of shading is flattering for everyone, but I love how it enhances my small, almond-shaped eyes. I've been doing this cat eye a lot, lately, with different color combinations.

In this video, I use a teal gradient, but feel free to use whatever color variation you like. Enjoy the tutorial and please subscribe to my channel, I would be ever so grateful! <3

Thanks for reading, and watching! Happy Monday, everyone! :P

Video Tutorial: Sweet Valentine's Day Makeup

Alright guys, been working on this all weekend! New camera, new film format, let me know how you like it, your feedback is important to me. This is the first of two video tutorials that I'm making for my Valentine's Day makeup series.

In this video, I show you how to do a feminine, pink makeup look that's suitable for this upcoming Valentine's Day if you fancy a sweet, girly look. It's more natural and fresh-faced looking, easy to do, and low-maintenance because the eye makeup isn't too complex. (meaning, you're not going to have to touch up too often)

Alright, well, here it is! It's my first video in a long time, so I'm sure there are a few kinks and areas that need improvement, but I'm sure they'll get better as I become more efficient at making them. Can you believe I spent ALL DAY yesterday trying to figure out a soundtrack for this thing, only to opt for no soundtrack at all, in the end? LOL!

I just had to think about copyright infringement, and, ultimately, just because I happen to like a particular song, doesn't mean that I should force it on everyone else. I mean, my video is about 3 1/2 minutes, but that can be torture if the music sucks. So, feel free to play whatever you like in the background while watching this. ^_^

I also encourage you to watch in 720 or 1080 HD, the quality is so much better and you can see all my flaws and pores! XD

Anyhoo, thanks for reading and watching. Also, thanks for all the encouraging feedback. This blog was so dead...I almost decided to delete it at one point, but you guys brought it back to life for me. I've been inundated with life situations and school and this has been a fantastic creative outlet for me. I'm just having a ton a fun creating looks and blogging again. <3

EOTD: Aqua Friday

TGIF everyone! The weather is mighty fine here in the bay area (a sunny 70 degrees), which made me feel like painting my eyes a happy color!

For this look, I used Maybelline Color Tattoo in Edgy Emerald, topped with a matte shade of aqua from my Coastal Scents Original 88 Palette. I did a medium, winged line and partial lower lash liner with Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner. I finished with #120 Ardell eyelashes.

This look is simple, fun, and really makes the eyes stand out! Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday so far and is looking forward to a long weekend, like me! (celebrating MLK Day this Monday, no school, yay!)

Cat
